PROJECT BLUE BOOK PROJECT NO. 220675 09/06/1964 FULL ALIEN INTERVIEW AT EBE-3 CLASSIFIED AIR TECHNICAL INTELLIGENCE CENTER Project Blue Book was the U.S. Air Force's official investigation into UFO sightings that ran from 1952 to 1969. It was headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and investigated over 12,000 UFO reports. The project had three main goals: to determine if UFOs threatened national security, to scientifically analyze UFO data, and to determine if any sightings showed technology beyond current scientific knowledge. During its 17-year run, Project Blue Book explained most sightings as misidentified natural phenomena (like stars or weather balloons), conventional aircraft, or hoaxes. About 701 cases (5.5%) remained "unidentified." The project was terminated in 1969 after concluding that no UFOs posed a national security threat and there was no evidence of extraterrestrial vehicles. The project's files, containing about 130,000 pages, are now available in the National Archives.
